Montalvo’s Yuletide Boutique

Montalvo Arts Center is hosting its annual holiday pop-up boutique on Nov. 17-18, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Nov. 19, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Local vendors will display holiday art and decorations, collectibles, photography, clothing, crafts and specialty gourmet food items for purchase. Handmade items created by members of the Montalvo Service Group will be for sale, and collectibles will be available in the Vintage Treasures Shop. The shop will hold a clearance sale on Nov. 19, when all remaining items will be half off.

Museum open house

The Saratoga History Museum, located at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road, is hosting an open house Nov. 24, 1-8 p.m., with holiday readings, a sing-along and light refreshments. Let’s Work Saratoga

Residents ages 15 and older are invited to join the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission on Saturday, Dec. 9, 9 a.m. to noon, to beautify and maintain the trails at Quarry Park.

Volunteers must register by Dec. 6 at https://saratoga.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer. A confirmation email with check-in details will be sent following registration.

MetroED award winners

Tom Nemeth of the Metropolitan Education District’s new Electrical Vehicles/Automotive Services program was named MetroED Teacher of the Year at Santa Clara County’s 2023 Teacher Recognition Celebration on Oct. 23. Nemeth came to MetroEd’s Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE) program to start a high school automotive vocational education and dealership internship.

Fellow SCVTE faculty member Maggie Kasberger, who teaches Sports Medicine and Kinesiology, won an Innovation in STEM Awards, presented by The Tech Interactive.
