OAKLAND — The owner of an Eastlake district café died Thursday after being shot inside the business, police said.
Authorities did not release the identity of the 44-year-old man slain. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was found about 8 a.m. at the i-Café in the 900 block of International Boulevard, near 10th Avenue, police said. Investigators believe the shooting at the Vietnamese establishment happened earlier.
Initial reports indicated the man had just opened the café when the shooting happened. The area is residential and commercial.
A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were announced.
